Alaska salmon to finding the prehistoric Great Northern
Pike. We also fly fish for Salmon, Rainbows, Dolly
Varden and anything else we can get a fly to bite on! If
what you're looking for is a great fishing experience,
then the Skwentna Roadhouse is the place for you.

the summer from fishing trips, floats trips or fly-in

river every day ~ camp out or stay at the lodge you pick.
Create your own great Alaska Fishing Vacation
Maybe you want to go and see what if feels like to
camp on the shores of the river for a couple nights,
making a journey up the Wild Yentna river, one day and
fly fishing on the Talachulitna the next - fishing all
the hot spots on the way, or make your own base camp.
Fish all day and sit around the campfire at night,
telling fish stories of the day ~ or share in the memory
of the amazing scenery and wildlife you saw on the river
that day. Come see all that we have to offer.
The Mighty King Salmon(Chinook) 25-80 pounds, Runs starts in May. The last 2 weeks of June through the end of the season in July are hot here in our neck of the woods for
the mighty pole bending Chinook.
Silver Salmon (Coho) These not so little fellas are fun to catch
weighing between 6-18 pounds they are nonstop action
from the bite to the cooler. Can be fished from
mid-July right up to the Month of September. All
depends on the run.
Red Salmon (Sockeye) these tasty little fellas run from
mid-July to mid-August about 6 - 12 pounds.
Rainbow Trout Great North's most beautiful fish
best fishing is early May and again from September
to freeze up these beauties can get up to about 10
pounds.
Dolly Varden Mini moochers of the
river's they are found where salmon spawn and weigh
up to 7 pounds, they are fun to catch.
Northern Pike
They are fun and plentiful we can fish year round. Hook, spear
& Bow…
Summer Weather - What to expect
Alaskan summer weather can offer up all sorts of
surprises. The weather can be very warm,
in May, June &
July it may surprise you but we can see temps in the
70's, 80's or 90's or it can be rainy and in the mid
50's. Either way, expect mid 50's in the morning, and warmer temperatures throughout the day.
From
May through July expect to have 20 plus hours of
daylight by about mid-August it starts to wane and the
sunlight gives up her light to the beautiful fall air
and colors… About mid-August the weather can dip below
freezing in the evenings - but typically will warm up to
50 -60 degrees throughout the day. If the suns not
shining it's probably raining as August and September
are our rainy months.
We suggest dressing in
layers at all times as you never know what to
anticipate.
